What did Yard Dog build in Longview, TX?

This Longview yard had more dirt than grass. Our crew trenched in a full irrigation system, brought in topsoil to level the yard, set the sprinkler heads and laid Bermuda sod over all of it.

Jacob walks through the finished yard in the first video. The second shows the build: topsoil going down, sod going in by hand and the new sprinklers running. Irrigation installs are done under a Texas Licensed Irrigator (TCEQ LI0006657).

I'm Jacob with Yard Dog Landscapes here again, and today we're finishing up this project. After trenching and installing all the irrigation pipe and the zones, we brought in 30 yards of topsoil to spread evenly throughout the yard, and then install approximately 32 sprinkler heads. And lastly, we were able to lay 19 pallets of Bermuda sod. All in all, this customer finally has grass and has a yard revamped to be appealing to the eye.

How we built it

How the crew built it0:45
  1. Trench the lines

The crew trenched across the yard for the irrigation pipe. Where a line had to cross concrete, they cut through it with a concrete saw.

  2. Pipe, valves and zones

Pipe went into the trenches and the valves were set so each part of the yard waters on its own zone.

  3. 30 yards of topsoil

Track loaders brought in about 30 yards of topsoil and spread it evenly across the yard.

  4. About 32 sprinkler heads

The heads went in and the system was turned on to test them.

  5. 19 pallets of Bermuda sod

The crew laid 19 pallets of Bermuda sod by hand, piece by piece.

Should a sprinkler system go in before new sod?

Yes. On this job the pipe, valves and zones went in first, then the topsoil, the sprinkler heads and finally the sod, so nothing had to be dug up after the grass was down.

How many pallets of sod does a yard need?

It depends on the yard. This Longview yard took 19 pallets of Bermuda. We measure on the walkthrough and put the pallet count in your written quote.
