Landscaping & lawn care at Lake Cherokee

Lake lots slope, wash out and hold water in the wrong places. We build the walls, drains, beds and lawns that keep a Lake Cherokee yard where it belongs, from the house down toward the water.

Lake lots work differently from town lots. Most yards on the lake fall toward the water, so every hard rain runs across the lawn, carries sandy topsoil with it and cuts ruts along drives and paths. Pines and hardwoods shade a lot of the ground, and grass thins out on the steeper banks where it's hard to mow. The fix is usually some mix of retaining walls, grading, drains, beds and ground cover that hold the soil in place.

In July 2026 we rebuilt a leaning block retaining wall along a Lake Cherokee driveway. We took it down, set a compacted base and put it back up course by course with drainage fabric and pipe behind it, so water has a way out instead of pushing on the block. Docks, boathouses and seawalls are not our work. We stay on the land side and handle the yard from the house down.

What Lake Cherokee yards deal with

Slopes to the water

Most lake lots fall toward the shore, so every rain moves water and soil downhill. Grading and walls decide if that happens slowly or all at once.

Bare banks erode fast

Sandy topsoil washes quickly once the grass thins. Beds, ground cover and terraces hold a bank better than turf you can't safely mow.

Drives cut into the slope

A driveway cut into a bank puts steady pressure on whatever holds it up. Walls built without drainage behind them lean, which is exactly what we rebuilt at Lake Cherokee in July 2026.

Needles and leaves head downhill

Pines and hardwoods around the lake drop into beds, onto lawns and down the slope. Regular cleanups keep it off the grass and out of the drains.

Lake Cherokee questions

Do you build docks, boathouses or seawalls on Lake Cherokee?

No. Docks, boathouses and seawalls are not our work, and you'll want a contractor who specializes in shoreline structures for those. We handle the land side: retaining walls, drainage, grading, beds, sod, mowing and cleanups.

How much does a retaining wall cost at Lake Cherokee?

Most retaining walls run $3,000 to $19,000, depending on height and length. Short garden walls start at a few thousand dollars, and tall structural walls on a steep bank can run $20,000 or more. We price yours after walking the slope.

Can you stop my Lake Cherokee yard from washing out?

Usually, with the right mix. We slow the water with grading and swales, carry it with French drains, hold steep ground with walls or terraces and cover bare soil with beds, ground cover or sod. Most drainage projects run $2,000 to $3,750.

Do you mow and maintain lake lots too?

Yes. We mow, trim, clean up leaves and keep beds in shape at Lake Cherokee. Banks too steep for a mower get string-trimmed, and we'll tell you where a bed or ground cover would make more sense than grass. Weekly mowing for a typical yard starts at $65 a visit, and larger lots or heavy trimming can move that number.
