What did Yard Dog build in Lake Cherokee, TX?

This driveway wall at Lake Cherokee was leaning. Our crew pulled it out and rebuilt it from the base up, this time with drainage behind it.

The photos follow the rebuild from the base and drain pipe to the last course of block.

How we built it

  1. Pull the old wall

The leaning block came out down to the ground.

  2. Base and drainage

A compacted base went in, with drainage fabric and pipe behind the wall.

  3. Set the block

The new wall was set course by course, stepping up past the shop.

  4. Drain strip

A gravel drain strip runs along the driveway side.

Why do retaining walls lean?

Missing drainage is the usual culprit. Water builds up behind the wall and pushes it over. This rebuild put drainage fabric and pipe behind the new wall.

Can you rebuild a wall instead of patching it?

Yes. When a wall leans, we pull it out and rebuild it on a proper base, which lasts longer than patching.

Do you work at Lake Cherokee?

Yes. Lake Cherokee is part of our regular service area out of Longview.
